POTATO DROP

Annually, Calvary receives 40,000 pounds of potatoes which is distributed to food pantries and feeding programs in the Northern Illinois area.  Calvary partners with the Society of St. Andrew in making this event happen. www.endhunger.org

GLEANING, FOOD PANTRY

Throughout the summer months, folks at Calvary pick up fresh produce from farmstands and deliver it to food pantries in our community on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday evenings.  On a continuing basis, members fill up food barrels with canned and other non-perishable items which are donated to local food pantries.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES, HEALTH KITS, LAYETTE KITS

On an ongoing basis, CUMC collects items which are taken to the Midwest Distribution Center, collated, and delivered to areas in need throughout the state, country, and world. 

CHILDREN'S CLOTHES FOR HAITI

A group of women meet together regularly to sew hospital gowns and shorts for the children's hospital in Haiti.

 

CARD-MAKING MINISTRY

One Saturday per month, folks gather at Calvary to make greeting cards to sell.  Proceeds from this time of fun and fellowship are sent to ChildServ, a ministry serving children and youth and their families. Check the Calendar for Card Ministry Dates. Outstanding cards can be purchased from the rack in the Narthex for $1.00.  

LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR DAY 

5th Annual - Love Your Neighbor Day - Saturday, September 28, 2019

Do you or someone you know have difficulty keeping up with work around the house because of financial or physical limitations? Could you benefit from a group of volunteers coming to your home for a day to help with minor repairs, cleaning or yard work? Apply for assistance with Love Your Neighbor Day.

On Saturday, September 28, 2019, members of Villa Park/Lombard area churches and members of the community will come together to volunteer and help their neighbors.

Homeowner applications are available in the church office or website, or go to www.ccvponline.net or send an e-mail to loveyourneighbor15@yahoo.com. Applications are being accepted now. Deadline is August 10, 2019.

CROP WALK 

Annually in October member of Calvary participate in the Crop Walk against Hunger. Member are sponsered per mile and the money goes to support local food pantires

IMAGINE NO MALARIA

Calvary UMC joined with United Methodist churches throughout Northern Illinois to raise over $ 1 million to help eradicate malaria.  Imagine No Malaria is a program that continues to support Nothing But Nets and takes it further.  Please go to www.imaginenomalaria.org for further information.
